One strange night, a spectral ancestor appears in his room and gives him armour, a shield and a sword, along with one very inconvenient warning: an ancient dragon is returning, and it feeds on fear, anger, shame and pain.

Jason is in Year 6. He has school, homework, parents, a best friend who is much more practical than he is, and a bully named Angus who already makes ordinary days hard enough.

Now Jason has to learn what being brave actually means, especially when the person in danger is the last person he wants to help.
